What is .NET Framework 2.0, and why do I need to install it?
According to Microsoft's website, "The .NET Framework version 2.0 improves scalability and performance of applications with improved caching, application deployment and updating with ClickOnce, support for the broadest array of browsers and devices with ASP.NET 2.0 controls and services. For more information on the .NET Framework 2.0, In simpler terms, OfficeReady uses .NET 2.0 Framework. In order for OfficeReady to install and run properly, it needs this framework in place.
How many times can I use my unlock code?
You can use your unlock code up to three times to install OfficeReady on three different machines, assuming you are the single end-user. This means that you can install on your work machine, your home machine, and your laptop, for example.
After installing the OfficeReady application, I see the "OR Pro 4.0 PDF Converter" listed as one of the printers. Why can't I print selecting this printer using the application File | Print command?
The OR Pro 4.0 PDF Converter is a custom PDF printer and is designed to support printing only through the OfficeReady Add-ins. The OR Pro 4.0 PDF Converter printer will not accept a print job through the File | Print menu option.
Do my existing templates get overwritten on installing a template pack?
There are many templates that are installed by the OfficeReady Professional setup. These templates are updated when you install a template pack. However, subsequent installation of templates packs will display a message box, which asks the user whether the existing templates are to be overwritten. Installing a template pack updates the templates for a specified category, if this category is already present in the application.
Can I install OfficeReady if I am not an Administrator?
You can also install OfficeReady if you are a Power User. However, if you are a Power User, the only location that you can install to is the default install location (C:\Program Files\OfficeReady), as this is the only location at which you will have sufficient privileges to install properly. If you attempt to install to another location as a Power User, you will experience problems. To avoid problems, if you are installing under a Power User account, install to the default location given to you by OfficeReady Setup. If you are not an Administrator or a Power User (that is, you are a user with a limited account), you will not be able to install OfficeReady.
Why don't I see the OfficeReady Toolbar?
If you don't see the OfficeReady Toolbar, it may just not be selected as such. To make the Toolbar visible, while in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, select View->Toolbars, and make sure "OfficeReady" is checked.
Why do I see certain toolbar icons in Word, and not in Excel or PowerPoint?
Word Templates may have certain functions that are unavailable in Excel or PowerPoint, and vice versa. The only icons you will see in the OfficeReady toolbar are those which are specific to that type of document.
Have the OfficeReady Templates and Add-ins been checked for viruses?
The OfficeReady templates and add-ins have been thoroughly checked for viruses using leading anti-virus software products so you can use these templates with confidence. For further security, the Office 2000, Office XP and Office 2003 templates have digital signatures to ensure their safety.
Where are the templates located?
The templates that are included with OfficeReady are installed in the Templates folder of the folder in which you have installed OfficeReady. The default folder (if you did not choose a different folder to install to) is C:\Program Files\OfficeReady\Templates. If you are looking for templates that you have edited and saved, they are saved in your default Save Folder (this can be set in the Preferences section). The default location is the My Documents folder.
Can I create a template from scratch?
Absolutely. OfficeReady makes it possible for any Microsoft Word document to become a template. To create a template from scratch, simply open a new document in Word. Add text anywhere you'd like by creating text boxes (Insert->Text Box). You can then add PhotoSockets of any size and shape you'd like, and insert photos into these PhotoSockets (either now, or when you're ready to use it as a template). When you've got the document exactly as you want it, select File->Save As, name your file, and change Save as Type to "Document Template." Now, you can use this file as your very own created template!
Can I import my own templates?
There is currently no way to import your templates into OfficeReady. However, using OfficeReady's toolbar, you can add PhotoSockets to, and insert images into, any word document. In addition, any Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file can be converted to a PDF using PDF Roundtrip.
Can I open OfficeReady Professional templates with Windows Explorer or File Manager?
Yes. Double-click an associated file in Windows Explorer and the template will automatically load, provided that the application is correctly associated with the file.
Can I use the templates if I retain them while uninstalling OfficeReady?
When you open an OfficeReady Professional template, the program checks whether the OfficeReady Professional software is installed. If the software is not found, the OfficeReady toolbar will not appear and software-specific features such as copying information, inserting photos, or applying profiles will not work.
How do I get more templates for use with OfficeReady?
Additional templates can be added to your existing template library by installing template packs. To download template packs, click on the Get More Templates button on the OfficeReady Template Browser. This will open the page for downloading template packs for OfficeReady on your system's default Web browser. Template packs can either be purchased or may be available as samples packs for free download.
Can I create and use multiple profiles?
Yes, you can. By default, whenever you open a template that has profile information in it, you will have the opportunity to choose which profile you would like to use. You can save and use several different profiles in OfficeReady. For more help on profiles, please see the Profiles section.
Can I use images from the web?
No, you cannot. It is not possible in OfficeReady to use an image directly from the web. What you can do, however, is save the image from the web to your hard drive, and then use the image from your local hard drive.
What is PrintingForLess?
PrintingForLess is an OfficeReady partner that provides full-color offset printing services. They are the leader in providing print to small businesses. Use them for quality-critical jobs and when you need 250 pieces or more.
Which file should I send to PrintingForLess?
Send the file from your Microsoft application. For example, if your template is a Word template, upload your Word file.
How do I order from PrintingForLess.com?
Click on the PrintingForLess button at the top of your OfficeReady home page. You will link through to ordering pages on which you can price and place your order, and upload your files.
How well will the printed piece match my monitor?
Most people are surprised at how well their job matches what they see. But because of wide differences in monitor calibration and the different technologies used, some printed colors may not exactly match the colors on your specific monitor.
I’ve heard that image resolution is important. How do I ensure that my images look great?
For commercial printing such as PrintingForLess, use the following guidelines.
Images should be 300dpi at the final size in the layout.
Resolution and size (dimensions) are inversely proportional to each other. So, if you enlarge an image, you lower its resolution. If you reduce an image, you increase its resolution.
How an image is originally acquired will determine its resolution, and thus the size it can print at for clear and crisp printing.
Low resolution images print with jagged edges and appear fuzzy.
Ink jet printers are less detailed and somewhat more forgiving. Monitors and projector are more forgiving still. So, you can use as low of resolution as 72dpi for PPT presentations that will not be printed.
